G-Eazy Concert Worth Seeing

On Tuesday, January 12th, G-Eazy came to town and performed at the Arvest Bank Theater at the Midland.

Thousands of people filed in to watch G-Eazy’s tour for his newest album, When It’s Dark Out, which is currently 11th on the iTunes top charts. Kansas City was the 6th stop on Eazy’s tour, all of which so far have been sold out.

Eazy’s performance here was absolutely electric, he performed every song off of his newest album and some old ones of his, including: Forbes, Lady Killer, Far Alone, and to close out the night he performed I Mean It, his second highest charting single to date. ‘I Mean It’ was performed as an encore due to Eazy’s spectacular performance.

Although Eazy was the headline act, the opening acts were great as well, including Marvin Grimes, Marc E. Bassy, Nef the Pharaoh, and A$AP Ferg, who brought on fellow A$AP Mob member, A$AP Rocky.

Most of the songs on When It’s Dark Out are quite upbeat and hype, but one song in particular got an emotional rise of Eazy himself. ‘Everything Will Be Okay’ is one of Eazy’s most introspective and revealing songs about his dark past. Fellow Bay Area performing artist Kehlani sings the hook in which she says that no matter what you’re going through everything will be okay. Eazy reveals what it was like leaving his brother in San Francisco while he trekked the country for fame, and also what it was like accepting his mother’s relationship with another woman. The last verse of his in the song is about how he lost this woman to depression. Eazy fell to his knees at the end of the song and was brought to tears.

Other than that particularly downing, yet clarifying, moment the show was absolutely amazing. Eazy did a great job of keeping the crowd involved, talking to us in between songs and thanking us for his fame and fortune. When Eazy comes back to town, I definitely recommend attending.
