Formerly known as Sports City, the Blue Springs Fieldhouse opened on September 28. Although in the same building as Sports City, the Fieldhouse hopes to operate in a completely new way. Instead of the run-down, semi-dysfunctional way Sports City was run, the Fieldhouse hopes to be a place people like to come to get fit.

The Fieldhouse is located just west of Adams Dairy Parkway across the street from Walmart and Home Depot. The facility is 76,000 square feet and includes many new features, such as the Spin Studio, the Kidz Corner, and a 6,500 square-foot fitness center that contains many new cardio machines of the latest technology, not to mention the most convenient tool any company can offer, free wireless internet. Along with the new features, the fieldhouse still offers four basketball courts, two tracks, and one soccer field which have all been completely refurbished. There are also three party/meeting rooms, two family restrooms, and two newly renovated locker rooms.

The Spin Studio is an extension of the weight room where group sessions are held. Equipped with hard wood floors, the studio will likely also be used for things like dance practices or indoor workout routines.

The Kidz Corner may be the most essential room in the Fieldhouse. While parents or older siblings enjoy the facility, their children or siblings can spend the time in the Kidz Corner where there will be many activities such as arts and crafts or group activities. It will provide the children with something to do so they don’t wander off in the Fieldhouse and risk getting lost or hurt.

Sports City had one basketball court that always seemed to be more crowded than functional. In order to solve that problem, the fieldhouse took out one of the less frequently used soccer fields, and installed four brand new basketball courts. All of whom will be regulation size and open any time the facility is.

Staff member Rachel Uptegrove explains how the Fieldhouse will affect Blue Springs.

“This is an opportunity for the community to unite and become more fit together. Much like Lee’s Summit Community Center (Legacy), we believe that this will become a great resource for everyone in the area” Uptegrove said.

A monthly membership for anyone from children (3-17) is $15 per month. Adults (18-59) are $25 per month, and seniors (60+) are $20 per month. The Fieldhouse is open from the following times in the graphic above.

The goal of the fieldhouse is to provide Blue Springs with a safe environment where they are welcome to exercise and enjoy themselves while at the same time maintaining a family atmosphere and having things for each member to do.
