After a win over cross-town rival Blue Springs, the Jaguars softball team improved its overall record to 12-5 and 4-4 in conference after starting the season with a 1-4 conference record.

Coach Kristi Williams gives her take on the way things are starting to turn around.

“No matter what happens, the team seems to always roll with the punches and fight through adversity the best way possible,” Williams said.

The Jaguars are becoming more and more excited for post season play as it nears. Williams says that the team is getting better every day, and she believes if they continue to work hard they will reach their potential.

“I am extremely proud of this group and love the confidence they show in themselves,” Williams said.

Sophomore outfielder Madison Crosslin scored two runs in the victory over Blue Springs. She explained her level of excitement after a big win.

“Blue Springs is always a close game and I knew it was important to get on base. Everyone did their job and we came out with an exciting win,” Crosslin said.

Senior pitcher Erin Griesbauer gave up only one run in a gem against Blue Springs. After a very emotional game she explains how it felt to play against the Wildcats for the last time, and more importantly, beat them.

“We were all wired up from the start and used great communication. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my team behind me,” Griesbauer said.

All season long the Jaguars have fought through tough wins, tough losses, and even tougher injuries. Williams says that the team continues to fight through adversity and that they continue to work hard and find ways to win games.

“Against Blue Springs we took advantage of early errors and made them pay for it,” Williams said.

If the Jaguars continue to plug forward the ceiling is limitless. Junior Shortstop Bailey Fowler contributed two RBI to the Jags’ victory and gives insight on the confidence of the team going forward.

“If we continue to communicate on the field and stay glued together as a group I have faith that we can go far,” Fowler said.

The Jaguars will begin district tournament play at Battle High School in Columbia early next week.
