Throughout this season the girls golf team has competed well and gained a lot of self confidence.

The girls have been improving, getting lower scores and working well as a team.Varsity senior Sydney Dykhouse said the girls are all advancing and everyone is really starting to reach their potential.

Coach Ted Linke shares his enjoyment of coaching.

“The girls are showing leaps and bounds of improvement and that is very rewarding for a coach,” Linke saaid

Linke has said that senior Nikki McDermott has had a great season all year and has really improved.

The team finished third in conference. Elena Conaty, McDermott, and Madison Russel medaled in the top ten and were named all conference golfers. All three golfers have had a great season and hope to continue in the upcoming tournaments.

Junior Natalie Prichett has recently been moved up from JV to Varsity and medaled in only her second varsity tournament. She is thrilled to be on the Varsity team and is glad all of her hard work is starting to pay off.

Russel described her biggest improvements.

“I think i have been improving most on my chipping and having a consistent shot,” Russel said.

The girls have Sectionals coming up on Monday, and if they do well they will qualify for state and that is what the girls have been looking forward to all year long.

Conaty has high hopes that the team will qualify for state this year and have a great end to the season.

Linke thinks the girls are having a great season and are really growing as golf players. The newer players are getting the hang of the competition level of the game and are beginning to reach their individual goals.

Dykhouse sees reason to be confident in the team’s performance.

“We have improved our scores a lot and are really getting closer as a team,” Dykhouse said.

The girls also just had Districts and finished in third place as a team. Four of the five golfers qualified to play at Sectionals. McDermott, Pritchet, Dykhouse and Conaty finished All-District. They also qualified to play as a team at sectionals, which take place Monday at Adam’s Pointe.
