Three times a year, high school seniors get a chance to have a public signing of their letter of intent at South. On February 1, it was nine South athletes’ turns to sign.

These nine were Bailey Fowler signing to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M to play softball, Dylan Fox signing to play soccer at Graceland , Mallory Kroencke signing to play soccer at Central Missouri, Jake Roark signing to play football at Kansas State, Melanie Roberts signing to play softball at North Central Missouri College, Camden Sprouse signing to play football at Truman State, Nina Stine signing to play soccer at University of Missouri-Kansas City, Megan Swanson signing to play soccer at Arkansas Little Rock and finally Collin West signing to play football at Missouri S&T.

Singing Day is special because the athletes get to sign in front of their friends, family and other peers that are invited. Kroencke had a few comments on what this felt like to her.

“It felt really good to express where I am going to go to college next year,” Kroencke said. “I was super nervous, but also super happy. I was most excited to see how proud my dad was of me when I signed. I am happy I have people here to support me in the next chapter of my life.”

Picking where you want to play at the college level can be stressful, and many different factors go into the decision. Swanson talked about what she based her decision off of.

“I loved the distance the campus was away from my house,” Swanson said. “It is far enough way, but not too far. The coach is also awesome, and I love the way he interacts with all the girls. I just feel like I picked a really good home with a family environment.”

With Signing Day now in the rearview mirror, Sprouse talked  about what he is looking forward to the most at the next level.

“I am most excited to continue to play the game that I love and further my education,” Sprouse said.
