Twenty-one students from Blue Springs South High School received journalism awards at a recent ceremony.

The Missouri Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA) Journalism Day happened on March 28 at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

The highest level of award that could be received was the All-Missouri award. Patterson Fallis and Carter Woods received this award for their play-by-play broadcast for Jag TV. Samantha Sifton, Anna Ellis and Tre Barbee received the award for a traditional package for the yearbook. The Jag TV staff received an All-Missouri award for one of its broadcasts.

Colton Robertson won a superior award, the second highest level of award, for a sports story in the school newspaper. Derek Mammen, Carlie Boldus and The Jag, the student newspaper, won excellent awards. Many students also won honorable mention awards.

Students from more than 60 schools attended the ceremony, with more than 1,200 students attending overall.
