The Blue Springs School District recently received 100 percent on its Annual Performance Report.

Each year schools have to submit data to be reviewed by the Missouri School Improvement Program. This data includes academic achievement, subgroup achievement, college and career readiness, attendance rate, and graduation rate. The Blue Springs School District is the only school district in Missouri to prevail in every single category and earn the prestigious ration of 100 percent.

Policies introduced by the Blue Springs School District administration have helped to push the district towards perfection in the eyes of the Missouri School Improvement Program. Principal Charlie Belt discussed these policies.

“We try to impact student learning and academic achievement, and we try to impact student attendance and graduation by some of the things we do such as incentives, attendance policies, and offering ACT opportunities before school, after school, and on weekends,” Belt said.

In an email to all of the Blue Springs School District’s staff, superintendant James Finley praised his colleagues and the community in general on their dedication to the education of students.

“We are people with an intense desire to learn to be even more effective in working with our current students to impact our future in the most positive way. We also receive tremendous support from our school community, which cares deeply about the education of our children. These things meld to provide a formula for success that distinguished us in a uniquely special way,” Finley said.

Praise must also fall to the students of the Blue Springs School District, as the rating earner is predominantly based off of student achievement. Belt eagerly expressed the key role students play, describing their part as huge.

“It’s all about students. It’s all student measured, student data basically,” Belt said.

The Missouri School improvement program evaluates ACT scores, ASVAB scores, Compass test scores, and AP and dual credit classes.

Finley shows his pride in the districts accomplishment.

The BSSD continues to be an organization full of winners- people who strive to be their best for the benefit of others,” Finley said.
