Television is not what it once was

Mason Rhodes, Reporter

Many of us remember the days when you would come home from school and you would watch an episode of “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” or “ That’s So Raven” and even many cartoons such as “Phineas and Ferb” and my personal favorite “ Ed, Edd n Eddy.” One of the shows I just named gave you flashbacks, and if it didn’t, there’s a good chance you’re not human.

Unfortunately, the youth today have no half-way decent cartoons or tv shows to watch. As of the moment they are stuck with shows like “Liv and Maddie,“ which has no comedic value and feels like it was force fed into our mouth, and when compared to a show like “That’s So Raven “ it stands absolutely no chance. “ That’s so Raven “ did so well that they even had a spin-off that was very successful. “Cory in the House“ was so successful some might even go as far to say that it was better then “That’s So Raven.“ I personally don’t think that’s the case but you easily could make the argument.

And then to top it all off, Nickelodeon created the “Dude Perfect Show “ which is in my opinion the most pointless and non-creative thing I’ve seen on tv in a long time. They literally handed a check to dude perfect and they did the exact same thing they did on YouTube. They did a bunch of crazy tricks and also had the occasional guest. And though it was still entertaining watching a guy throw a football into a basketball goal from a football field away, it’s a replica of what they did on YouTube. I personally think this was a waste of time and money, especially considering the fact that I could hop on YouTube and have one of their videos up in 10 seconds.

Many people’s argument against my claim would be that Disney is owning the movie industry right now. And if I’m being completely honest, they are running it. They have consistently put out movies that are solid and they sell. I personally think that this is because they take their time with the movies. They don’t rush them and shove them down our throat.

This is the type of television we want but unfortuanately not the television we are getting.
