Kanye disregards facts of slavery

Kanye West is an American rapper with one big mouth. He’s very outspoken and loves leaving the people of America shook. We find that he’s hanging out with President Trump and put a lyric about him in his music. Then, on TMZ Kanye says “slavery is a choice”. Now, that is just factually incorrect. The definition of slavery is one person has absolute power over another and controls his or her life, liberty, and fortune. Absolute power is complete authority over every little thing.

On May 2, 2018, West said, “When you hear about slavery for 400 years? That sounds like a choice.” What people aren’t seeming to understand how someone who came from the struggle and is African-American could say such a belligerent comment. Now, people close to Kanye seem to think that he said this comment because he wasn’t taking his medications. Kanye also talked to TMZ about how his doctors had prescribed him to take three pills a day, and he claims that messed with his brain, so he resulted in only taking one or two a week.

Not bashing Kanye, but what he said was simply uncalled for. If you’re on medicine or not that comment should never be said. After he caught the backlash of what he had said he tweeted out, “the reason why I brought up the 400 years point is because we can’t be mentally imprisoned for another 400 years. We need free thought now. Even the statement was an example of free thought – It was just an idea.” Regardless of this being a “so-called” idea it was a very dumb one.

If what you are saying can be checked by facts, simply shut up. The facts are accurate, and you sound ignorant. Next if it’s offended the race of people and you are please shut up. In this case it created #IFSLAVERYWASACHOICE on black twitter. Now, yes these are somewhat comical but they all revolve around one thing, slavery isn’t a choice. Finally using stupidity for publicity is not okay. Not all publicity is good publicity.

Kanye needs to understand that slaves couldn’t just get up and rebel when they wanted it’s not that simple. Lots of slaves were scared they would get severe beatings or even worse, killed. Rebellion isn’t something that can happen. Sure, there were African-Americans who risked their lives to help others escape and revolt, but not everyone has courage.

Kanye is simply wrong and has bashed the African-American people. This is not okay. I would love to ask Kanye how his ancestors would feel if they heard him say this. This is to Kanye. Your black card has been REVOKED!
