The Blue Springs South February students of the month are seniors Rowan Taylor and Drake Wood.

According to Taylor, this is her first time receiving an award like this. She says she was “happily surprised” upon receiving it. “I was really happy and it was really sweet that Mrs. Schuberth recommended me.” she said.

Taylor writes for the literary magazine, (activities). She was nominated by language arts teacher Janis Schuberth.

“She has such an enthusiasm for learning,” Says Schuberth, “when she’s not working she’s reading. Whenever I give her an assignment to do her eyes light up and she sparkles.”

Wood says he was not expecting of this award. “There’s so many great students at Blue Spring South; it was just a nice experience.” he said.

Wood is in FFA, debate, on the mock trial team, and is in NHS. He was nominated by agricultural science teacher Craig Zwahlen.

“He’s a leader in the classroom, he’s a leader in the community, he’s a leader in the FFA organization.” Says Zwahlen, “He represent our organization very well, he was nominated for star farmer for Area 6, which is a big, big honor.”
