The March students of the month for Blue Springs South are seniors Lea Stanton and Michaela Ross.

Stanton is involved in clubs like NHS, modern language club, and played shooting guard for basketball.

She says she was “very surprised” to receive student of the month, as she wasn’t expecting it. She was nominated by social studies teacher Stephanie Ladd.

“I think Lea is a natural leader. She comes prepared to class or to practice if she’s on the basketball court,” Ladd said. “Teachers, coaches, anyone who knows her knows they’re going to get their best out of Lea.”

Ross is in many clubs around South, including NHS, Renaissance Club, Senate, Jags United, and Spirit Council. She also plays clarinet in band.

She also says receiving student of the month was a surprising moment for her.

“It was an honor to know that so many teachers and people that I see every day I left an impact on them so that was really cool.” Ross said.

Ross was nominated by math teacher Nathan Dorsch. He says she is a hard worker and an overall good student.

“She never really complains about work and being involved,” Dorsch says. “Super busy, super involved, pretty positive about stuff. Just a really good kid, a good representation of what we want our kids at South to be.
