On Saturday, South baseball will honor Jake Clark, a 2014 South graduate and varsity baseball player through the “Live like Jake” baseball game.

Clark was diagnosed with melanoma cancer. This year the game will be played against Rockhurst at South on Saturday, April 6.

“It’s a nice way to honor him, and the memory of who he was and the way he lived his life. He was a great young man and was full of life and never met someone he didn’t like,” says Coach Ben Baier.

A group named Outpacing Melanoma will be at the game to provide information and statistics on melanoma, as well as talking about getting an early look at checks for cancer to help spread cancer awareness to America’s youth.

During lunch this week, black “Live like Jake” wristbands will be sold for 2 dollars a piece and at the game shirts will be sold as well. These bands will also be sold during the game. The proceeds from these wristbands and T-shirts will raise money for cancer research.
