Michael Kober is a freshman science teacher at South.

Michael Kober is a new freshman science teacher at Blue Springs South.

Kober originally intended to go into medicine and graduated from UCM with the degree for it. However, he started coaching after he graduated. He liked it and, in his words, it “felt like a natural fit.”

He liked helping kids grow and improve, which persuaded him to become a teacher. As he already had a science adegree and enjoyed doing it, he became a science teacher.

Kober grew up in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. He was a good student, getting good grades, playing football, singing in choir. He went to William Jewell, then to UCM. The 2021-2022 school year will be his 6th year of teaching.

It was a difficult question, but his favorite books are the “Song of Ice and Fire” books by George R.R. Martin. His favorite movie is “Shawshank Redemption”, though he does also love gangster and mafia movies. His fantasy vacation would be somewhere on a beach with good food. If he had to stay in the states, he would go with Hawaii.
