Blue Springs South had a school wide PSAT test for those who want scholarships to go to college. Kelsea Kilmer, Lance Willyard, Andie Raadt and Jake Hamilton took the PSAT and got national merit commended. They were in the top four percent nationwide.

The first student who got the national merit commended scholarship is Kelsea Kilmer.

The PSAT is hard to prepare for. Kilmer didn’t study a whole lot; however, she did take many standardized tests throughout the year.

Kilmer will use this opportunity to go to college. She will study microbiology at the University of Kansas.

She had some tips for other students who want to take the PSAT in the future.

“Don’t stress yourself out. Being relaxed is the best advice that I have,” Kilmer said.

The second student who got the national merit commended was senior Lance Willyard.

Willyard prepared himself for the test by studying and taking classes for the PSAT.

He will use this opportunity to help his scholarship status. Willyard has quite a few colleges that he has applied to, but he wants to go to a business school.

Willyard had a couple tips for future students wanting to take the PSAT.

“Just try to take it easy and focus on removing all stress,” Willyard said.

The third and fourth students that took the PSAT are Andie Raadt and Jake Hamilton.

Andie Raadt

Raadt didn’t study much for this test, all she did was take a few standardized tests throughout the year.

Raadt didn’t really know how she would use this opportunity in the future. She said that she wanted to go to college, but she didn’t know what college she wanted to go to.

She wanted students who are going to take the PSAT in the future to take their time and stay calm.
