Adam Courter is a retiring PE teacher and coach at Blue Springs South

Why did you get into teaching? 

I had really good coaches and teachers growing up, I knew after college my athletics weren’t going to continue, so I stayed in it by getting into coaching 

Where did you go to school HS & College? 

Maryville High School and Northwest Missouri State University 

Where did you grow up? 

Maryville, Missouri 

Plans for after retirement? 

I have no clue; all I know is that I don’t want to teach or coach anymore. 

Hobbies and Interests?  

Spend time with my family, going to my kid’s activities, watching sports 

Family? 

14-year-old twins at Grain Valley High School and my wife is over at Blue Springs High School and she is retiring this year as well 

Why did you retire this year? 

I have reached the point where I can retire and I’m just ready for change 

Have you teached/worked at any other school? 

 I have been here all  29 years of my teaching and coaching career 

What will you miss the most? 

Interacting with students, interacting with colleagues and peers, all the relationships I have built with students and athletes 

Favorite memory? 

All of the coaching staffs I have been a part of and watching kids hard work pay off over the years while coaching them.
