The Jaguar boy’s cross country team may not have accomplished all of their season goals, but they definitely took steps in the right direction towards building legacy within Blue Springs South boys cross country program.

The Jaguar boys did not qualify to state as a team but they did qualify individual runners. Mason Smith finished 50th, Collin Horn finished 107th, and Liam Durkin finished 123rd.

“This was a pretty successful season,” Durkin said.

This season was very strong for the Jags because they continuously finished in high places throughout each meet of the season. The team worked together and got closer to each other.

“The best part of the season was getting to know the coaches,” Durkin said.

It has been something that runners on the team have reiterated, getting closer to teammates and coaches is something that is a special experience and a major part of being on the Jaguar boy’s cross country team.

“A great part of the season was hanging with the team,” Horn said.

It has been a goal accomplished for the cross country team this season.

Inevitably, there have been regrets this season.

“I wish that I had ran better at sectionals,” Horn said.

The Jags were very close to achieving their season goal of making it to state as a team. Although they had an impressive season to date, they fell slightly short of their end goal. But hope is not lost because the successes of this season can only stand to be improved upon.

“We are really using this season as a builder for next season,” Horn said.

The Jags are still hopeful at completing their goal. Although it did not materialize this season, they have only done work to help their chances and abilities next season.

Taking the necessary steps to living up to standards set by only those who can attain those standards is all the Blue Springs South cross country team can do and has done.

Overall, this season was not a pointless season.

The boys cross country team will be returning top runners Smith, Horn, and Durkin. They will also be returning major contributors Matthew Willis, Seth Henks, Nate Henks, Zach Grover, and Luke Talcott.

Jaguar boys cross country is planning on big results and accomplishments next season.
