On October 21st and 22nd  Maya McVey competed in the state golf tournament. Maya has been playing golf for about 10 years, and has been practicing for big moments like State.

“I just practice as much as I can. Sometimes it’s hard getting the practice in because I have a lot of schoolwork I have to catch up on from the days I miss. you just got to fit in all the practice rounds you can,” says McVey.

Maya shot a 93 on both days of the tournament.

“I feel like I could have done better, I shot a 93 both days. There are few shots I was very proud of, I had some really good putts, and my short game was on point but I just couldn’t keep up the good work throughout the round.” says Maya.

Maya took 59th place out of 90 golfers from around the state.

Coach Logan Moresi said Maya has had a phenomenal season as just a freshman and she is looking forward to the remainder of her high-school career.
