The Blue Springs South Girls Swim and Dive team has started off to a 20-1 record in their dual meets.

Sophomore Kirsten Markley is really proud of the team.

“I feel like the team has been doing everything to the best of their ability,” Markley said.

The team recently competed in a swim meet against 24 other teams down in Columbia, Missouri. They ended up taking third in that meet out of the 24 teams.

Sophomore Lauren Markley is enjoying her time with the girls this year.

“The thing about swim is we push each other; we push each other to a point where we can achieve our goals. And I think that’s really great and we have all become such a big family,” said Markley.

Head Coach Errich Oberlander talked about how well the team is doing this season.

“We are looking to defend our three-time conference title in a few weeks, looking to wind down the season,” Oberlander said.

There have also been a few more state qualifying times between the divers and the swimmers.

There are eight state qualifiers, Mackenzie McClain, Katie Clark, Sydney Dillon, Bailey Carter, Delaney Jackson, Lauren Markley, Kirsten Markley, and Alyssa Stone.

McClain has qualified for three events, Clark has qualified for two, Dillon has qualified for one, Carter qualified for one in dive, and Jackson also qualified for one in dive.
